ArtWorks: Teaching Business Creatively
Support what our students have created
In 2012, RYP pioneered an ambitious new program called ArtWorks. ArtWorks’ mission is three-fold: to further educational and professional opportunities for RYP students, to supplement after-school programming costs, and to use handmade art as a platform for sharing information about refugees in the Baltimore area to a broader community.
This unique social enterprise melds art, social justice, and entrepreneurship, teaching high school students the value of creating personal artwork along with sharing cultural lessons and techniques. ArtWorks ensures that young people take an active role in developing opportunities for newly arrived refugees who use RYP as an after-school resource.
For anyone interested in carrying products handmade by refugee youth in Baltimore, please contact Kursten Pickup at firstname.lastname@example.org or 410-558-3194.
