In an article published in September 2018 on Hyperallergic.com, a popular online arts magazine, Deena ElGenaidi reviewed The New York Art Book Fair’s 2018 zine tent and mentioned 8 highly notable zines. One of those zines was Press Press, a local partner of the Baltimore City Community College Refugee Youth Project. Press Press is an independent published based in Baltimore with a mission to “give a voice to those who have been suppressed or misrepresented, focusing primarily on immigration.”
The article mentions how Press Press began when Hanauer started volunteering with RYP in 2014, teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) writing workshops to refugee youth. RYP is thrilled to see Hyperallergenic discuss work done in collaboration with immigrant communities and incredibly thankful for the work Press Press does to uplift the voices of refugees and immigrants!
